A while ago, Hackney Council’s Decent Homes programme reached the Haggerston Estate and it looked like Stelios was setting up camp. And then, instead of the garish orange boards, these appeared

Now, maybe it’s the work of a bright spark arts officer at the council or artists that actually live on the estate and you could argue that the portraits are a waste of money but hey, I think the general idea isn’t a bad one even if the execution is a little unoriginal.

The main question remains, if these blocks are structurally sound (which they appear to be), can’t they be demolished instead of renovated?
